The Black Eyed Peas, also known as BEP, is an American hip hop group from Los Angeles, formed in 1995. As of 2009, the
group is composed of Will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie. Since its breakout album Elephunk in 2003, the group's
pop/dance-oriented style of hip hop music has sold an estimated 27 million albums and singles worldwide.



'Shut Up' is a song by the American hip hop band Black Eyed Peas, released as the second single from their 2003 album
'Elephunk'. It is about a disastrous courtship with the chorus consisting of the lines "shut up, just shut up shut
up". Will.i.am needed a good female singer for the song, so he brought in Fergie. She helped out in most of the
songs in 'Elephunk' and eventually became the fourth member of the BEP in 2003. 'Shut Up' was not released in the U.S.
but became an instant success internationally,  reaching No.1 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Germany,
Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland. The single also reached No.2 in the UK and the
Netherlands, and also peaked at No.3 in Finland. 'Shut Up' has become one of the Black Eyed Peas' most successful
singles. The music video features an opera themed around a battle of the sexes. In it, Will.i.am and Taboo play Fergie's
suitors, and apl.de.ap is the conductor. Kimberly Wyatt from the Pussycat Dolls features in the video together with
Carmit Bachar, also of the Pussycat Dolls, who feature as a back up dancers.
